About Myself, the Artist
My name is Sonny Leonidas Chavez. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until I won a Scholastic Gold Key Award for my piece Depiction of Royalty that I realized art could be more than just a passion—it could be something I pursue seriously. I know the road ahead won’t be simple, but that’s part of what makes it worth it. Creating is what I love, and I’m excited to keep challenging myself and growing along the way.

My Mission
As an artist, my work is driven by a passion for worldbuilding and storytelling through visual and character design. I don’t aim to create isolated characters—I craft figures that feel like they belong to a much larger universe, that's rich with unseen histories, cultures, and unique environments. Beyond just presenting detailed characters, the intricate elements in my designs are meant to spark the viewer’s imagination and invite them to explore the stories, relationships, and settings that exist beyond what is shown in my artwork. I create pieces that serve as a gateway into broader narratives, where every design choice alludes to something greater within their individual worlds. This connects me with viewers on a more immersive, imaginative level by evoking their own imagination through my work.
